Welcome to the Council for Disabled Children’s and NHSE/I's Level 1: SEND Basic Awareness online training.
This training is for all staff including non-clinical managers and staff working in healthcare services.
By the end of this training you will understand:
- What SEND means
- The key points of legislation regarding SEND
- The potential impact of SEND on a family, and how families can be supported
- Where to find more information
The course will help you understand the system as a whole and how practitioners have a part to play in supporting good outcomes.
This resource has been developed with funding from NHS England, though we recognise the value in the learning for practitioners and workers across the SEND system from all agencies and organisations.
Level 1 will take approximately 60 minutes, you can work through at your own pace. You do not need to complete all of the lessons on the same day.
It can be used in conjunction with the health ‘SEND training assurance framework tool’ that is being piloted in the South East region. Please speak to your local Designated Clinical/ Medical/ Health Officer for further information or contact the SE Regional SEND Advisor : england.sendsoutheastnhs@nhs.net
Please be aware that this e-learning is now available to complete through the e-learning for healthcare professionals website (e-lfh.org.uk). If you are an NHS professional, we highly encourage you to complete through e-lfh as it will submit correct data and will allow your senior managers to track compliance.
